bathrooms...

they say that you judge how nice a place by the bathroom. i have noticed this with restaurants, and even in fancy houses. i think it is probably true. i mean, when else are you all by yourself where you can really look around and notice a pretty painting or nice floors? plus the bathroom usually has your full attention so you are going to notice if it's not clean or not aesthetically pleasing... unless you're a guy and you use the time as your 'study.' (a patient told me once that he was having trouble seeing while doing his crossword puzzles and i asked him if he had good light and he said, 'well i kinda do them in my study, if you know what i mean' ...gross! TMI!)

anyway, these are some things that i appreciate in a bathroom...

-when it's clean. there's nothing grosser than a dirty bathroom! once i had to go at a gas station on my way to dallas and was wearing jeans and the floor was wet, so afterwards my jeans got wet... ewww!

-when they provide toilet seat covers. so nice :)

-if they have a place for you to set your keys or purse, like a small table or a ledge. today i was eating at panera bread and it wasn't a pretty bathroom really, but the ledge was very nice.

-fresh flowers :) my mom always has roses in her bathrooms. i love it.

-those nice monogrammed towels and fragrance hand soap. just adds so much to the experience.

-good lighting. so important to not have any harsh or unattractive lighting!

-nice floors, counter tops, accessories, etc oh and music playing...

-and lastly, hand lotion!...okay this one hardly happens but my hands get soooo dry when i wash them and i always have to carry lotion with me so i really appreciate it when the bathroom has lotion!! :)
